10/25 Update

News:

  • Spaghetti Dinner is Thursday night at Casey Browns house. Directions will be handed out at practice.
  • Parents shirts should be distributed then (if they have come in). If they have not come in we have told the vendor to keep them. Please send your check for $15/shirt with your runner to the dinner or practice on Friday. Plan on wearing them proudly on Saturday!
  • The Banquet has been moved to Wednesday night 11/17 at 6:30PM. Sorry, the Collins Hill Girls Softball team beat us to the date. But, I have already reserved Thursday 11/17/2011 for next year so you can put that on your calendars! Runners are free as part of their paid dues and parents are $15 a person and those under 10 are $10.

  • 8:15 Varsity Girls (7 Entries) Region 7-AAAAA
  • 8:45 Varsity Boys (7 Entries) Region 7-AAAAA
  • 9:15 Jr. Varsity Girls (Unlimited) Region 7-AAAAA
  • 9:45 Jr. Varsity Boys (Unlimited) Region 7-AAAAA
  • 10:15 Middle School 2 Mile race (please plan on staying and cheering on our middle school racers).

10/11 Update

News:

Whew! We made it through last week and the three meets, now we just need to get them off to Florida.

  • We have a Spaghetti dinner this Thursday 6PM at Pepperonis. Pepperonis is located at 2750 Buford Hwy Duluth, GA.
  • The Florida trip information is updated on the website. Report directly to Old (Memorial) Gym at beginning of school day on Friday. Notice they will be spending the first night in Melbourne, FL and the second night in Tampa, FL.
  • We have ordered 30 parents t-shirts. They will be $15, if you want one please let us know the quantity and size. You can email me at 5wells@bellsouth.net.

10/04 Update

We have a busy week this week with three different meets.

  • 10/05 - Varsity Only Race at Cass/Cartersville. The bus will leave at 1:30 and the races are 5:15 (Boys) and 5:45 (Girls). The runners will probably not be back before 8.
  • 10/07 - JV only Race at Little Mulberry Park near Hamilton Mill. The bus will leave at 1:30 and the races are at 5:00 (Girls) and 5:45 (Boys).
  • 10/09 - All Runners at the Winder/Barrow Invitational. Race is held at Bramlett Elementary in Auburn, GA. The bus will leave at 6:00AM. Races are at 8:00 VG, 8:40 VB, 9:20 JVG, 10:00 JVB.

News:

  • Get your Florida deposit in as soon as possible.
  • The final information sheet should be on the website shortly.
  • We are still behind in fund raising so look for some more opportunities coming around that.
  • NO Spaghetti Dinner this week. It is Homecoming come out and support the football team as they take on MountainView.
  • We will be ordering parents t-shirts similar to the runners shirts. If you are interested in ordering one please let me know quantity & size.

Volunteers:

  • We will need food for all three events. Please let me know if you can shop/donate/provide.
  • We will need help setting up on Saturday. We need four volunteers to arrive early and set up food and tent.
  • Can whoever talked to me about the banquet at the Windward Challenge please email me? I think I have the wrong runner with the wrong parent - sorry.

 

09/30 Update

  • A lot of fun at the Windward Challenge yesterday. You can get results by hyperlinking out from the schedule page. We ended up with 39 runners.
  • Remember to get your deposit in for Florida

09/26 Update

News:

  • We race (9/29) at the Windward Challenge in Alpharetta, GA. The race starts at 6:30 but we will need to leave the school by 4:00. We have 34 runners and will need a fair number of drivers. If you can be at the school by 4 and drive a carful we would appreciate it.
  • I have put links on the website to the Georgia Track and Field website for our race results. If the race entered results you can go see your runners time and place.
  • Parents T-Shirts - we are going to order a set of the purple shirts similar to the runners shirts for the parents. If you are interested in purchasing one please let us know.

Disney Trip:

  • We are now going to Orlando and not Tampa. Okay, strike that it looks like we will begoing back to Tampa now as we are having trouble getting the trip in anywhere near budget.
  • For those of you who missed the meeting last years information sheet is posted on the website under the 'Information' tab. When we finalize plans a more updated version will be posted.
  • The price will be $225 - not the $200 on last years handout. Please get your non-refunadable deposit in by 10/1/10.
  • If parents want to make the trip we can reserve a room at the same hotel and purchase tickets but we will need the money up front.

9/13 Update

News:

  • This Saturday’s race is at River Green for the Gwinnett County Championships. Race times are as follow: 8:00 – VG, 8:30 VB, 9:30 JVG, 10:30 JVB. There is no bus so please have your runner there at least an hour before race time. Sooner if possible so they can cheer their teammates on.
  • The runners will be selling Coupon books this Sunday (9/19) 11AM-5PM at the Duluth Kroger (3455 Peachtree Industrial Blvd, Duluth)
  • Spaghetti Dinner – this week’s dinner will be at Stephen Ogden’s house. Directions will be handed out on Friday.
  • We may be hosting a school wide Spaghetti Dinner on 10/8 prior to homecoming. We are still waiting for approval from Mr. Navas (Duluth AD). We will need a lot of help if we get approved.
  • The Wesleyan Race has been changed to the Windward Challenge in Alpharetta, GA on Wednesday 9/29 at 6:30PM. Please sign permission slips your runner should have brought home.
  • Please pay your dues if you haven’t already done so.

Volunteer Opportunities

  • Coupon Book Sale – we need an adult present at all times at Kroger. I would like to break it into two sections. So, if you can spare two hours it would be greatly appreciated.
  • Spaghetti Dinner – we still have 10/22 available and maybe 10/8.
  • Meet Set-Up – I believe Mr. LaMotte is going to meet me at the school this Saturday to pick up the canopy food etc…
  • Food – we need food purchased or donated for this week’s race.

Disney Trip

  • Preliminary budget is done and it looks like the trip will be $225.
  • Parent Meeting on 9/27 in the concession area of the new gym. Come get your questions answered, fill out paperwork and make a final payment.

9/6 - A few things to update you on:

  • Schedule has been updated. Main thing is the Florida weekend has been moved out one week and we will now run in Winder, GA on 10/9.
  • Tomorrow's race is for all runners the bus will leave at 1:45PM.
  • Saturdays Race is Varsity Boys only. We will meet at high school and carpool down.
  • The Florida trip is scheduled for the weekend of 10/15-17. Find registration form on the Information tab.
  • We are still looking for a house for this Friday's spaghetti dinner. Find information on the Volunteers tab.
